desperate ground | Chi LA Buffs

Has there ever been a band you really dug like five years ago that is brought back into your life unexpectedly to find that they are just as, if not even better, than you remember? Through a series of happenstances (I got cut early from work; a bored pal randomly checked who was playing at Lincoln Hall) I experienced this rarity with The Thermals this previous Thursday night. Currently on tour promoting their latest album Desperate Ground, the band put on an awesomely raucous show. It wasn’t the type of show that made me nostalgic for the days I spent listening to them as an angsty 16-year-old girl but instead one that made me think, “Damn, I need to start listening to them again.”
