Art Nerd: The MCA’s “Destroy the Picture: Painting the Void, 1949–1962”

Yesterday afternoon my Museums Studies course was cancelled so I met my friend Emily who’s home from Mizzou on the Magnificent Mile for tacos and a trip to the MCA.  I’ve been meaning to check out their painting the void exhibit for weeks but never had the time.  Post WWII is one of the most fascinating periods of art to me: the public demanding where art is to go from this destruction, death, this evil and the artists of the world responding with the destruction of representation and the exploration of the abstract, the void.  I went kinda picture crazy, nerding out and such, so if you can’t make it to the exhibit which ends in a couple of weeks you can check them out here!
